Privacy Policy
What the Epioneum iPhone app does with your food diary, your weight, your profile and your Apple Health data. Last updated August 24, 2026.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller for Epioneum is Epioneum LLP, registered in England and Wales, registered office Stoney Works, 8 Stoney Lane, London, SE19 3BD, United Kingdom.
Write to privacy@epioneum.com to exercise any of the rights described below, or to ask us anything about this policy. If you are in the United Kingdom you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office; if you are in the European Economic Area, to your national supervisory authority.
What we collect
Epioneum works without an account, an email address, or a sign-up. Everything you log is stored in the app on your device:
- Your food diary — the meals you add, search for, or scan.
- Your weight entries and your goals.
- Profile details you choose to enter — name, body metrics, birth date, dietary preferences.
- App settings, like your units.
How we use it
For one thing: running the app. Your entries become your daily totals, trends, and targets, computed on your phone. We don't use your data for advertising, for profiling, or for anything else.
Apple Health
If you connect Apple Health, Epioneum reads only what you explicitly allow — body weight and active energy — to show your trends in one place. This access is read-only, and Apple Health data stays on your device: it is never uploaded anywhere. You can revoke access any time in iOS Settings → Health.
Barcode scans
Food search uses a USDA database bundled inside the app, so it works offline. Scanning a barcode sends the barcode number — nothing else about you — to Open Food Facts to find the product. Like any internet service, their servers receive ordinary network metadata such as your IP address, handled under their own privacy policy. We don't attach your name or any identifier, and we keep no off-device copy of the request.
What we never do
- Sell or rent your personal information.
- Show ads or embed advertising trackers.
- Track you across other apps or websites.
- Run third-party analytics that profile you.
Your data, your controls
- Edit or delete any entry in the app.
- Export your complete diary as JSON from Settings → Privacy & data.
- Erase everything from the same screen — or delete the app, and its data goes with it.
- Turn Apple Health access off in iOS Settings.
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR and CCPA also give you rights to access, correct, delete, or port your information. Email privacy@epioneum.com and we'll help.
What's coming: accounts and sync
A future version of Epioneum will add accounts, so your diary can sync to our servers and survive a new phone. Apple Health data will keep living only on your device. Before any of your data moves to our servers, we'll update this policy and tell you in the app.
Children
Epioneum isn't directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
Your data is protected by iOS's built-in device encryption, and every network request the app makes uses an encrypted connection. No system is perfectly secure, but the less data leaves your phone, the less there is to protect — and that's the design.
Changes and contact
If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and say so in the app. Questions? Email privacy@epioneum.com or visit epioneum.com.
